For Kids: Family Workshop and Concert at the Fowler Museum – Sunday, July 29, 1-4 pm.  In Hippos to Choo Choos! families explore and make art inspired by the Boetti’s colorful embroidery works on display in Order and Disorder: Alighiero Boetti by Afghan Women.  There’s an outdoor concert with Afghan percussionist Salar Nader after the workshop at 4pm. All ages. Free.

For Adults & Teens: Artist led Indigo Dye Workshop at the Santa Monica Museum of Art (SMMoA) – Saturday, July 28, 2-5 pm. Learn how to create unique fabric designs using natural indigo dye techniques. Ages 13 and up. $15/Free for members. Reservations required.

Nite Out: The Skirball kicks-off its free summer Sunset Concert series with the East African and Congolese rhythms of Samba Mapangala and Orchestra VirungaThursday, July 26, 8:00. Parking is $10.

New Exhibition at the Norton Simon: Significant Objects: The Spell of Still Life (July 20, 2012-January 21, 2013).

Closing Exhibiiton at the Fowler Museum at UCLA: Order and Disorder: Alighiero Boetti by Afghan Women (closes July 29).
