L.A. Museum Kids Activities Summer 2011 Calendar: Last Week!

, , Leave a comment

It’s the last week of the Museum Stories Summer 2011 Calendar.  Summer just flew by for our family.  And, like always, I’m left with mixed emotions as the new school year approaches. Sure, I’m looking forward to the kids being in school all day so I can have some uninterrupted work time.  But I’m also sorry to see our carefree days come to an end.

My kids’ summer schedule was a nice blend of sport camps, family vacation time, and free days with nothing planned at all.  On those lazy days, the kids hung around in their pjs until noon, and we lingered at the beach or the college pool until early evening — all without the pressure of homework or class projects to finish.

And thanks to my weekly task of posting this calendar, we also did a lot of L.A. family fun museum activities. Our highlights were seeing a vintage family flick at the Hammer Museum, a live performance of Nigerian dance and music at the Fowler Museum, and going to the Skirball’s Houdini exhibition and Water Day festival (the Chinese acrobat who performed at the festival was amazing!).

Now how about your family, did this calendar help you find some fun things to do in L.A. with your kids this summer?  If it did, do you think I should continue it during the school year in a monthly format?   Let me know your thoughts. It’s easy to do, just enter your comments at the end of this post.

Enjoy the last days of summer!

Calendar Week of August 22-28: Orange highlighted program titles indicate special programs for this week only; or repeating programs that feature a new theme, performer, or movie each week/month.  All other program listings repeat daily/weekly throughout the summer.  Always click on activity links for program details, and to confirm the date and time. Museum schedules can, and do change, from time to time. And be sure to subscribe to this blog to get an email copy of this calendar every week.
