L.A. Museum 2011 Summer Kids Activities Calendar: Week 4

, , Leave a comment

Believe it or not, it’s the last week of July.  But you still have time to try several activities closing this month.  This weekend marks the last “Stories’round the (Flashlight) Campfire” family event at LACMA, which is my Pick of the Week. Inspired by Tim Burton’s love for all things spooky, staff members tell not-so-scary stories in the galleries.

This Friday night hear the last of these scary tales “Sketetons in Your Closet and Socks in Your Drawer – Tales Both Silly and Absurd from 7-8 pm in the BCAM building (details below).  It’s also a great opportunity to see the Tim Burton exhibition if you haven’t already (it closes October 31st).  Call ahead to get tickets.  It’s still one of the hottest shows in town.  Also ending this weekend is LACMA’s FREE FAMILY SUNDAYS WORKSHOP activity “The Art of Giving!” (details below).

The Getty Center Museum starts a new FAMILY ART LAB activity workshop  “Fancy Fashions”  this weekend.  Your kids can see fashions found in Renaissance portraits and then make their own fashionable creations.  Come to the Family Room Patio and drop-in anytime between 11:00 to 3:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.  No worries if you can’t make it this weekend, the program runs through September 11th.  Now here’s this week’s calendar with more fun things to do with kids in Los Angeles this summer.

Week of July 18-24:Highlighted programs indicate special programs for this week only; or repeating programs that feature a new theme, performer, or movie each week/month.  All other program listings repeat daily/weekly throughout the summer.  Always click on activity links for program details, and to confirm the date and time. Museum schedules can, and do change, from time to time. And be sure to subscribe to this blog to get an email copy of this calendar every week.
